Jay Saunders was born on 13th June 1983 in Canterbury UK. He has been remixing and producing for various record labels for the past few years but has now decided to take his own leap into the limelight. He currently produces varies styles of EDM music . Recently his style has become more recognized for his dirty baselines and his melodic moments which make your hair stand on end. He can currently be found DJing around London in clubs like Ministry Of Sound and Pacha as well as worldwide bookings.
Jay is building a strong reputation with many collaborations under his belt and has also earned the support of some of the biggest names in the scene. 2014 is proving to be massive year for Jay with tour dates coming soon and killer new tracks on the way. SUM: Hi jay, thanks for having this Q&A Interview with us. How you’ve been? , tell us how this year is going so far for you?
It’s SUPERB so far. I’ve been lucky enough to DJ in some top clubs including Ministry Of Sound and Pacha as well as other various clubs and festivals! I’m also working on lots more music to be released this year!
SUM: it’s been around 18 months since that release of your debut single on Big Alliance “Zombie Apocalypse”, you have returned to BA with a new single “Pump It Up” that has been released a few days ago , tell us how this tune came together ?
I know, too long huh? :) Well, I love the stuff out at the moment and I wanted to make my own BANGERS to play in the clubs! So, Pump It Up ticks that box for me!! :)
SUM: As a Dj, you are always a busy man, what is next gig wise ? and production wise?
I’m looking forward to various gigs around the globe! I have some a festival coming up in Finland in August and i’m now looking toward the US for future gigs, collabs and.. lots more music!
SUM: What fans that haven’t seen you playing live yet, can expect from you? What’s your brief invitation, what’s the promise?
I will always ALWAYS put together an energetic crazy set and I am much the same whilst I DJ! I think you should WORK HARD and PARTY just as HARD!!
SUM: Can you recall the craziest or the most memorable moment at any of your gigs?
Every moment seems to be crazy when I play a gig!! However, this was this one time when I floated above the decks for a while!! I could have just been a bit high come to think about it? :)
SUM: What non-edm song would you like to crossover to Electro or House?
I’m currently working on some 80s crossovers! I don’t want to give them away just yet.. but they will be along soon enough! ps.
SUM: When was the last time you went to an EDM concert or event as a fan? Not as a Dj?
Everytime I go out I go as a fan and a DJ! So probably last time was to Ministry Of Sound to watch Markus Schulz :) I was an EPIC occasion!
SUM: What are your favorite three tracks at the moment?
I love everything by Showtek, DVBBS and John Dahlback among many others. Oh, also check out Tchami, really love his style!
SUM: If you had the opportunity to collaborate with one artist, who would it be and why?
It would have to be Showtek as well as a few others. LOVE all their productions!
SUM: What is your biggest passion apart from music, tell us a bit more about you as a person.
I love food and I love to travel the world! I obviously also love to party and generally entertain as much as possible :)
SUM: Are you a football fan ? are you folioing the World Cup?
Well, we’re out already! But Brazil or Holland to win :)
SUM: What do you enjoy most about the different types of house from around the world?
I love the fact that you can tell when a track comes from Holland,Germany, US and the UK. It’s great to have such diverse EDM sounds coming together and It keeps things fresh :)
SUM: What is your take on this digital world we are living in?
It’s awesome! I love the technology of today and am very much looking forward to owning my own robot.
SUM: What is one thing you always wanted as kid, but never got?
A six pack!! But I am working on it.. as soon as I finish this Chinese ;)
